Linly Heflin Scholarship

Description

Linly Heflin Unit was founded in 1919 as a women’s service organization.

In our earliest days, we rolled bandages for World War I soldiers, and assisted at Children’s Hospital. Since 1923, our focus has been to further the education of young women in Alabama by funding partial college scholarships for women attending Alabama colleges and universities. To this day we remain 100% volunteer based with no paid staff and extremely low overhead.

Over the years we have been able to increase the size of our scholarships and the number of scholarships we award. In the 2019-20 school year, we supported nearly 100 women and gave away approximately $700,000 in scholarships. Since 1923, we have funded more than 3,000 scholarships totaling around $6,000,000.
